Happy Monday, yon Bloggerville.
Kid C has a Basketball camp this week, so I'm planning on getting a lot of work done. If I could just get out of bed.
Here he is on his first day:
Check out that form. He can make the ball hover at three-inches above the ground. |
Truthfully, Kid C and I needed a break. We had a rough weekend that consisted of a grand total of 28 time outs, 26 of which were his. (Two were mine.) I got in such a groove that eventually I was putting everyone in time out: Kid B, Sam, the neighbors, the neighbors' dog, the lamppost... It was sad.
At one point, as he was emerging from one of the time outs, Sam and I felt the need to list our grievances against him, just to make sure he was clear on exactly why he was in time out.
After the first few accusations, he looked up at Sam with sad little eyes, and said, "Can we please just skip to the part where I say 'I'm sorry'?"
Both of us cracked up and he was off the hook. It was a needed moment of levity in a weekend of suck.
Aren't you can't down the days until schools starts. I know we are over here( only 8 more weeks). Weekends and pretty much every other day of the summer can be really tough. Hope you have a better week! Your The BEST!
ReplyDeleteAnon- I'm totally counting down the days. I made a paper chain for the countdown, and every day we ceremoniously rip a loop off and cheer. :)
ReplyDeleteP.s. I got so stressed this weekend I cut 12 inches of my hair. Good news it will be going to a good cause. Lock of Love. Crazy how kids can have such a effect on us.
ReplyDeleteThis entire summer vacation has felt a lot like that for me. And I've had my share of time-outs too, sad to say. Maybe it's a phase I'm going through and I'll grow out of it eventually. Good luck getting out of bed!
ReplyDeleteWow! That is a lot of hair. I bet it's cute!
ReplyDeleteJenilyn- I fully plan on getting out of bed before lunch! *she typed from bed*
ReplyDeleteI've been kid-less for a week now. So much more productive! (Unless you count housecleaning, laundry, or other "family service" related activities.)
ReplyDeleteI can't say that I ever wish for Monday, but I do wish for time outs from certain people, yes. Too bad those time outs usually correspond with Mondays.
ReplyDeleteRobin- It's amazing how clean the house stays when the kids are gone! At least, at my house.
ReplyDeleteJenni- Everyone can benefit from a time out at least once in a while.
Blame it on the moon. It was hovering around full for far too long last week.
ReplyDeleteYesterday hubby and youngest son thought teasing mom was a good idea. When I started yelling, they just laughed and ran out of my office.
And boys...blame the gender at large.
Lesli- Oh man, if it's a boy thing, I'm in trouble. I'm outnumbered three to one in my house!
ReplyDeleteThat's so precious. Don't they just break your heart sometimes?
ReplyDeleteDo we ever have weekends like this? Need you ask? YES. Cute anecdote. And glad you put yourself in time out. I should do that more often. Also, you might want to come over and visit our backyard, we might be able to match your tallest weed. Frightening. None have forced through our walls yet though. ;)
ReplyDeleteDonna- Yes they do. And I have a bad feeling it won't be the last time.
ReplyDeleteCath- I advise every mom to put themselves in time out every once in a while. Like maybe once a week.
