Congratulations! Rank your top five choices from the picture below and email me your address. (Email in the sidebar).
The contest will resume after the holidays, when I expect Santa will have brought me more money. (Wow, that sentence reeked of the Ghost of Past Present Participle).
Now for the quick post:
What I'm Thankful for, in Order from Most to Least Important. (Just kidding. No order.)
1. Health. Among other things, this includes myriad doctors and nurses, the Huntsman Cancer Institute, vaccines, medicine, and my Dad still going strong.
2. Metrosexual Hubby who's not afraid to do the laundry
3. Kid B, who's pretty sure he knows how to talk, it's just the people around him who don't know how to listen.
4. Kid C, who can negotiate the skin off a chihuahua.
5. Friends, who understand the madness that comes with writing, and hang with me anyway.
6. Writer Friends, who don't flinch when one of us says, "Then I had a breakdown." Because what writer doesn't have a breakdown? We're all, "That's not even worthy of setting down my hot chocolate."
7. Extended family, complete with nannies, readers, friends and kindred souls. (Wow. I'm getting sorta mushy.)
8. Parents, who raised me to believe most kids read Shakespeare for fun. (I'm thankful now, but man, growing up... )
9. Blog Readers, who keep coming back despite my stories of pus, abs, spiders and pee.
10. Blog Commenters, who give me something to look forward to every day.
So, what are y'all thankful for?
You, Brodi! We're all thankful for you!
ReplyDeleteI'm thankful I got to see New Moon last night and truly appreciate your previous posts. (Although I'm not so thankful that, after going to sleep around 1 a.m. that my 2 year old decided 4:15 was a good time to wake up.)
ReplyDeleteI really do love your blog. You make me laugh.
I'm also starting my own blog. If you ever want to check it out, it's www.jenilynmtolley.blogspot.com.
Happy Thanksgiving!!
Congrats to your fab winners.
ReplyDeleteI'm grateful to be able to spend time with my family. My hubby is home for four days and I couldn't be happier.
I'm thankful for all of that, too! In the miracles-of-modern-medicine category, I'm thankful my hubby lived through the age of 21 thanks to a kidney transplant; otherwise I wouldn't have known all the humor I'd have been missing the past seven years! (How was that for past present participling?)
ReplyDeleteMore recently, I did my thankfulness post about writers I'm grateful for. Yes, I did cringe about having a preposition at the end of the title, and I did rule out "Writer for Whom I'm Thankful" as too snobby-sounding, and I did check with hubby about whether or not to capitalize "for" if it's the last word (not that he knows more than I do in that realm, I just wanted a second opinion and he was the closest adult, again thanks to the aforementioned transplant).
Happy Thanksgiving, and thanks for all your great posts!
Kim- Thank you. I was hoping someone would take me up on my fishing for a compliment. Right back atcha.
ReplyDeleteJenilyn- 2-year olds can be so inconvenient. I'll check out your blog! Welcome to the blogging world, the biggest time suck this side of the Continental Divide.
Debbie- My favorite part of Thanksgiving is having hubby around.
Nikki- That is amazing about your husband. Here's to modern medicine! And excellent use of past present participle. I will have remembered that for years to come.
Unless there's another Britt that's me! :D
ReplyDeleteLOL on #3-- I've got one in the same boat.
Woot! I won! I am definitely grateful for your blog, it makes me and Becky laugh every time we read it! Seriously, we practically compare notes every day you post. It's borderline obsessive.
ReplyDeleteBritt- Congratulations! Maze Runner on its way.
ReplyDeleteLulabell- I need more obsessive readers just like you! Thanks.
I'm thankful for funny blog posts that lighten my day while at work. I'm also thankful for my family, friends, holidays and vacations and no work on those days, good books, and tons of other stuff.
ReplyDeletePS - Have a fabulous Thanksgiving! :)
ReplyDeleteI don't think I can list my Thankful's without feeling cheesy and lame. So I will say I am thankful for superficial things like Diet Pepsi, good books, old sweats, vampires, warewolves and junk food!
ReplyDeleteJenni- Those blog posts do sound good. Where do I find them?
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving to you too.
Cam- Oh crap. Did I sound Cheesy and Lame?
And I will never understand you and your Diet Pepsi. But I guess we're even, because you'll never understand me and my Ender's Game.
Yay! I win!
ReplyDeleteI am thankful that I get to have Thanksgiving dinner at my parent's house, where the food is good, and not my family in law's house, where the food is not as good. Also not my own house, where it is quite possible the food would be inedible.
I am also thankful for your previous blog posts about Zuppas. If I ever need to laugh, I think about those.
I wasn't accusing you of being cheesy and lame...I said that I would feel that way. Although, it is interesting you would jump to that assumption. Let's explore that...tell me about your childhood....
ReplyDeleteOh, wait, you were friends with my husband. Enough said....
I am definately grateful for Brodi--and the blog that brightens my Monday, Wednesday and Friday's.
ReplyDeleteI am grateful that because of you I watched Buffy, Zombie movies and The Office (English style).
My in-laws are also grateful for Brodi salad.
No idea why I made Friday with an 's? Still working on my grammar!
ReplyDeleteJuliana- Hopefully your in-laws don't read my blog. (Kidding, I'm sure they don't.)
ReplyDeleteYour sister and I call it "wine-fry" so much now that we don't know what the real name is.
Cam- My childhood was filled with dismembered deer legs in my snow-covered lawn. What does that mean?
Eden- I would like to be remembered, in eulogy, that I brought Zombies, The Office (Brits), and Buffy into someone's life. Then when I am questioned at the pearly gates, I'll say, "I made a difference to that one."
I win!!? I win the very last FBF?? Thanks for taking pity on me Brod. I never win anything! You can give me whatever you'd like. I'm embarrassed to say I wasn't familiar with any of the titles. So... I trust you! Just looking forward to a visit! Happy Thanksgiving! Loved your grateful list. Family. Life. Health. Doesn't get better than that.
ReplyDeleteCath- yes you win! I will pick a good one for you.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to the winners!!
ReplyDeleteI'm thankful for Debbie who introduced me to your blog, Brodi.
I'm thankful for my family and friends and my son who is still growing and getting ready to meet this world in January.
Finally, I'm thankful the semester is almost over and my maternity leave is getting closer!
Happy Thanksgiving all!
Una- Right back atcha. What are you going to name your son?
ReplyDeleteYay! I hope I'm the Mary that won. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteYes Mary- it's you! Congratulations. Hope you had a happy holiday too.
ReplyDeleteWe've got two names picked out, but we've decided not to name him until we meet him face to face. So barring any unforeseen disasters, he'll either be named after my hubby (which makes him the third) and we'll call him Trey or he is named after my hubby's grandfather and my great uncle (they both died before hubby or I could meet the other's relative) John Thomas.
