Stuck with me? Lucky you!

Brodi will not be posting today.  She's had some unexpected family things come up that she needs to attend to.  She begged me not to post on her blog today.  I pleaded with her to allow me to...I won!  She said as long as I don't show any pictures of me shirtless, in bicycle shorts or in a fedora, I could post here.

I wanted to go through some of the latest happenings in our house.  Boy C is rocking it in 2nd grade and he is is always thinking...the other day, he wanted to go over to his friend Z's house.  I told him he could but he needed to come home at 6pm.  He stopped, looked at me and said, 'Sam, its better if you call over there at 6pm, I have too much going on in my head to remember what time to be home. Bye.'

I bought a new Betta fish.  Yeah, I know what you are saying 'You are the stupidest person alive.'  Why?  Because we kill Betta fish and we don't know why.  Here is our history   Well, Brodi was out of town and I decided to give it another go...Shadow is our new lovely fish.   I sat down with the bosses at our local fish store and told them our long sordid history of killing fish.  I quickly learned that I should not take fish for a walk, feed them ground beef and that I should not give them a bath with soap and shampoo.  With this new knowledge, I feel like Shadow could live many, many days with us happily.

I thought about starting up the exercise program 'P90X.'  I would totally do it if it was just a lot easier.  Don't they realize how many people are not going to do their program because they make it so hard?  If they added donut breaks or reading breaks or just said 'Don't try so hard here, take it easy' then I would be much more inclined to go for it.  Oh well.  I guess I will have to just continue on with my "book reading, television watching and occasionally bust out a dance move" exercise routine.

We have lived in some cold places with cold windy winters.  We have lived in Blackfoot, Idaho...Denver, Colorado...Washington DC...London, England...all terribly cold in the dead of winter but few things have prepared us for the past couple of days.  It was 'take away your breath' kind of cold.  My trusty 1974 Scout would not even start (but truthfully, the Scout doesn't like to start even on warm days...its picky on which days it likes to start and thats part of its 'charm').  But now it is a toasty 25 degrees...I have got my tanktop on and I am going to go out to enjoy the sun.

Brodi will be back on Monday.  Unless we can create enough of an uprising where the readers demand that I take over this blog immediately...yeah, even my mom thinks that is a bad idea.  Come back on Monday and enjoy the regular musings of Brodi.  Thanks!

  1. Well done, Sam. Well done.

  2. Nice, Sam. Does Boy C really call you by your first name? =D

I read the portion about the X90 thingy, and he agreed with you. He said it looks great but no one wants to really work out that hard or they'd have been doing it for years.

  3. I pity the poor fish! Hopefully he understands the danger he is in.

It's nice that kid C has a personal assistant that can keep track of his schedule.

I think you and Brodi should start posting, "He said, She said," style! That way we get the best of both worlds

  4. I have too much going on in my head to pop back over on Monday. Can you call me? Man that kid C cracks me up big time!

  5. nkrell - thank you and your comment will be framed and put on our kitchen wall.

Donna - yes, Kid C calls me Sam. He once, accidently, called me Dad, but he quickly corrected that.

Eden - I am an assistant to the personal assistant for Kid C. And I like the He said, She said style. I will talk to Brodi about that.

Debbie - yeah, he is a funny little dude when he tries to not be funny.

  6. Sam, you crack me up. I'm glad you've figured out how to keep your Betta fish alive. Alas, my fish died of dropsy and then my cats tried to eat him.

When I walked to class on Wednesday, the temperature was -4, but with the wind chill it was more like -22. Utah can get very cold! I just wish if it were this cold we could get hounded with snow too so we could have snow days. Snow days in Utah? What are those?

  7. I kill fish too. We started buying them because my daughter accepted them as a substitute for getting a new sister. But the fish died. We bought more. They died. More. Dead. More. Dead. Finally, we bought a $10 fake jelly fish tank at Bed, Bath, and Beyond. They don't die and they have an off switch.

  8. Jenni - Yep, I have figured out to keep our Betta fish alive for 5 days so far. I am truly a miracle worker. Wish me luck in keeping it alive past a week.

Jenilyn - You are a fish killer too! Whatever you do, don't buy a cat or a dog. I like the fake jelly fish...but I have a feeling that they would dissolve or something under my care.

  9. Oh, the fish. XD When I was in kindergarten, the teachers at my school had the brilliant idea to give every kindergarten that wanted a couple guppies and sometimes a couple snails from a nearby pond. (Seriously? To five- and six-year-olds? I mean, isn't that kind of homicide to the fish? Or the parents? >.>) I got three guppies and a snail. I believe I fed them for a few weeks and then forgot all about them. Whoops. |D Poor fish and snail. Though the snail was a trooper.

(On a side note, my younger sister got a Betta fish from the pet store when I got my pets. Which also died. Before the snail did. |D)

(On another side note, the only other thing I remember about my fish and snail is I decided two fish were guys, one was a girl and the snail had no gender. Also, the "girl" fish's name was Sarah. I wonder at the name choice, because I can't remember any of the other names. |D)

P90X? I had to do that in gym class. It was like my curse of lack-of-gym-excellence was coming back to haunt me. Hey, gym teacher, did I ever mention that I can't even do a push-up and I fall over if I stand still for more than half a minute? So why is this rambling guy ordering me to stand on one leg for an hour? O.o

The cold, the ice, the slip-and-slide-and-skate-to-school. XD The icicles on my house reform two seconds after I knock them off. Woo-hoo, another ten-year-long winter. XD (I've been talking to personifications of Mother Nature, Old Man Winter and Jack Frost waaaaaaaay too much this year... |D)

  10. Wow, your work routine sounds remarkably similar to mine, although somehow I find time to fit long hot baths in there somewhere.

  11. Stephanie - bad idea for kids. At least they didn't give out ponies or something like to the kids in kindergarten. That would not have ended well.

Lizzie - yes, our lives are almost identical. Except you go on more dates than I do and you get long hot baths. Otherwise, identical.
