Launch Party by the Numbers: because it's a tradition

Firstly: The winner of the Everneath Prize Pack is: Tara Turner

On to the post!

Hey y'all. Since it's become a defining feature on the blog, I thought I'd share a rundown of the Everneath Launch Party by the Numbers:

Number of people in attendance at the launch party- 220

Number of hours I signed for: 2.5

Number of essential items I forgot: 2
1- my own copy of the book to read from 2- my special red pens to sign with (I shopped for them all day. I ended up signing with a purple pen.)

Number of times I called someone "Rachel" who's name was in fact not "Rachel": 2 (King's English has a lot of Rachel's!)

Here's one of the Rachel's introducing me. I love her.
Number of typos in my power point presentation: 2

Number of times I said the word "nipple" in my presentation: 4

Number of times my mom hoped I would say the word "nipple" in my presentation: 0

Number of bad pictures in a row my hubby took of me: 9
Open those eyes, Brodi.

No wait, try again.

This one's my favorite. I'm so bored, I'm sleeping.

Could I BE any happier?

I'm scared. The woman in the front row has a gun.

Constipated? Yes, please.

Remember that part where I tried to eat the microphone?

I'm thinking of a funny joke inside my head.

A little to the left, raise your chin more... yep. Now I can see straight up your nostrils.

Number of times I messed up on signing my own name: 2 (What is it that makes me forget the "r" in Brodi?)

Number of times I ripped the title page of the book when I was trying to remove the post-it note: 1

Number of times I've typed the words "thank you" in the past 48 hours: 548

Number of people I have left to thank: countless

Thank you again, everyone.

  5. So I want you to know that, because I pre-ordered (and didn't get the super-fast 2-day delivery), I now have to wait until Tuesday for my copy. If I hadn't already read it, I'd be tearing out my hair right now. More than I am, I mean.

I think Amazon sold out, too, and had to wait for more copies to come in.

Exhibit A: I ordered it on January 20.
Exhibit B: They promised a 3-5 day delivery time.
Exhibit C: The current delivery estimate is Tuesday, January 31.
Exhibit D: That be more than 5 days. That's 11. ELEVEN DAYS!!! (Even lawyers can do math sometimes.)

Have they ordered your second print run yet? Because the first print run was obviously deficient. (Again with the failure to consult with ME!)

Wishing more than ever that I could have been to your launch party. 'Cause I'd have my pretty copy by now. *sigh* *drums fingers* *checks the road for the USPS truck*

  7. I love the series of photos! It was an awesome party! I'm so glad I could make it. I feel so special, too, that I was the only post-it note mishap of the evening. :)

  8. Ahhhhhh!!! I REALLY wanted to be at your launch party—I'd been looking forward to it for months! But guess what?! I was casually glancing at my emails on Wed, when I read one from The King's English, saw that your launch party was the night before, AND FREAKED OUT! Argh! I'd been so busy and I spaced!

But hey, you're going to be at LTUE & I'm revved up to attend your presentation on magic systems! And I'm hoping you'll be at the book signing event too.

A huge congratulations to you on the launch of your debut book!
I love your post about it and how you can laugh at yourself! :D

  9. I love this! I am so sad I missed it. This is why I take a million pics when I am at signings because when people talk, they look funny. I love that you were brave enough to post the bad pics! ;)

  11. Congrats to Tara!

Don't you hate those impromptu pictures that catch you at an embarrassing pose that was really just part of a smooth motion into a graceful look? You see, we only look dreadful when that split section is taken out of context.

Well, that's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

  12. Congratulations, Brodi! I'm so, so glad it went so well (and so so sad I couldn't make it). I love the pics, regardless of the eye-closing. You truly look SO happy!

  13. You did it! Yea! Wish I could have been there. You don't know me, but I've been very excited about your book. I just got my signed copy in the mail today that you sent me. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!! (P.S. I'm mailing you a book mark of my book in return!)

  15. Congrats to you, Brodi, for a successful launch party and to Tara for winning. Sounds like things went well even if all the pictures were taken right when you we blinking or forming a word, or in the midst of setting up that perfect expression. None of that matters, because your writing baby is officially out in the world. You raised her well :-)
